Johannesburg - A Plumtree born and Johannesburg based female novelist - Sibonokuhke Moyo have bounced back with one of the top drawer in literary works, through her Ndebele short story anthology "Imvimvinya Zempilo."

"Life itself is a great motivation to me, I see a lot that has gone wrong compared to back in the days. I then prefer to write about what people can relate to and what they are going through," Moyo told Switchbod.

Arguably an author whose books are capable of redefining and challenge one’s character, Moyo uses the power of writing to teach with a motherly love.

From het debut novel "Kulukhuni ukuba yindoda" (2013), she never retired her pen, she has been bussy with short stories and short films .
Switchbod learnt that Moyo developed the passion for writing and story-telling during her high schools years whereby she used to write short stories just for fun. However when she came to South Africa she then went on to write under a group called "Abalobi bakithi" of which she soon parted ways with for some reasons.

She was bold enough to set out this journey by herself. Then she met Makubongwe Ndlovu  who helped her alongside Dingindlela Dube who then  did the editing of the first novel "Kulukhuni ukubayindoda."

The novel is about a family that was broken apart by political unrest , economic strangles and the problematic modernism. When a father leaves his wife and son behind (against his will) life completely falls apart, the wife dies and the child is abused by the neighbour and eventually runs  away to seek  the so called better life in South Africa where he is fortunate enough to get a mentorship and guidance and meets a girl of his dreams.  Hedoes not know that it is his blood until the lobola day .

When asked about her new book, Moyo said "Imvivinya Zempilo," is a five (5) short story anthology that addresses promiscuity, marriage disintegrations due to mass migration to greener pastures, witchcraft, child abuse, domestic abuse and tribal clutches.

All these stories are  tragedies, that is the style of writing I use to bring the touching message across. All my stories are based in rural Zimbabwe with the time frame of around when modernism was starting to creep in, " Moyo said
Switchbod further learnt that she has scripted and directed a movie which is to be released soon, entitled "Isililo Senkedame, " under BMK productions.

When asked about the major challenges she has faced so far, she said: "throughout my writing career,my major challenge has been finding Zimbabwean based editors. My desire and purpose are to write in pure isiNdebele. Most of the Joburg based editors are mixing isiNdebele and isiZulu. However in my second book I used one of Usungulo Arts Consultancy editors Future Moyo aka Jamelah and I hope my readers will enjoy the book."

My ultimate goal and desire are that my work would be recognised widely in Zimbabwe and be part of the syllabus of IsiNdebele in Zimbabwean schools. It would be a milestone for me if kids at schools would be tested based on my books. I would appreciate it a lot if they can read my works on radio as well , as they used to do before, because the sole purpose of my writing is to educate," Moyo continued.

She went to  point out that challenges are always there for upcoming authors such as the issues of  distribution and finding editors.

"As for me it was a delectation to work with Usungulo Arts Consultancy. My books are not yet available in stores, but I am working on that . I spoke to a few books shops in Zimbabwe i might sign deals with them soon and I hope my books will finally land at the University of Zimbabwe," Concluded Moyo.
